Complex PTSD (CPTSD) and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) are frequently misunderstood, misdiagnosed, and conflated—often leading to confusion for clinicians, clients, and support networks alike. This webinar provides a clear, developmentally informed comparison of these two conditions, focusing on where they differ, where they overlap, and why they so often appear together.
This webinar aims to move beyond binary or blame‑based thinking by offering a compassionate, developmental lens. Participants will leave with a clearer conceptual framework, improved diagnostic confidence, and a deeper understanding of how trauma, attachment, and personality development interact across the lifespan.
Learning outcomes:
- Differentiate Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder based on key clinical features and developmental pathways to support accurate diagnosis.
- Explain the role of developmental trauma and attachment adversity in the development of CPTSD and BPD.
- Recognise co-occurrence and apply a trauma-informed, non-stigmatising approach to assessment and care.
