PPRG Facilitator Training
Become a Qualified Facilitator for ASPM
Professional Peer Reflection Groups!
Becoming a qualified ASPM Professional Peer Reflection Group (PPRG) facilitator requires:
- Active ASPM membership
- Prior attendance at ASPM PPRGs as a group attendee (15 hours)
- Further further 6 hrs of ASPM PPRGs or other ASPM small group learning experiences

Training process:
- Trainees attend 5 PPRGs with an experienced facilitator (7.5 hours) and under supervision, lead part of one session.
- Following each session, trainees debrief for additional 30 minutes with the facilitator one-on-one
- A short written reflection must also be submitted thereafter
- Duration: PPRG cycle (~5 months)
- Costs $980

How to apply:
ASPM members may apply to train as a PPRG Facilitator after completing:
- BEFORE applying, you should discuss your application with an ASPM facilitator for their recommendation
- Applicants require two ASPM facilitators’ agreement to endorse their application
- Requires fee for payment at time of application

Reflective Practice & Peer Support
Reflective practice and ongoing education is essential to General Practitioners who undertake the complex work of whole-person care. ASPM provides in depth training for small group facilitators and supervisors to mentor and facilitate peer reflection groups that provide safety, connection, guidance and growth for GP group members.

Training Pathway
Professional Peer Reflection Group Facilitator Training
PPRG Facilitator Training Process:
- Cost of Training (over half a year): $980.
- This includes free attendance to a cycle of PPRG plus five one-to-one debrief sessions with an experienced facilitator.
- Trainees will attend 4 sessions with one experienced facilitator and be given opportunity to facilitate a part of one session.
- Trainee will attend one session with another experienced facilitator and be given opportunity to facilitate a part of that session.
- Trainees therefore attend 5 sessions in total over a half year cycle
- Trainees will receive 30 min training / reflection session with the experienced facilitator afterwards (five x 30 min training / reflection sessions in total)
- Trainees can become qualified by approval of two experienced facilitators in consultation
- If a trainee is not deemed eligible to become a qualified ASPM PPRG facilitator after consultation by two experienced facilitators, the decision by the two experienced facilitators is final and will not be revised or negotiated. No refund to the application fee will be issued.
- The trainee will be notified of the result of the qualification process in writing.
