Focused Psychological Strategies
The ASPM FPS-ST (Level 2) Online Self-Paced Modules have been developed for GPs by GPs with a primary focus on the practical aspects of mental health care in general practice.
Through a series of engaging, interactive online modules, participants will build practical knowledge of evidence-based FPS interventions and learn how to apply psychological skills and strategies to the diverse needs of consumers within the general practice setting.
Designed for flexible, self-paced learning, the modules provide an accessible way for GPs to develop practical FPS skills that can be readily integrated into everyday general practice.
Learning outcomes:
After completing these online modules, participants will be able to;
- Select evidence-based FPS intervention appropriate to consumer issues and needs outlined in the GPMHTP.
- Demonstrate evidence-based FPS intervention appropriate to consumer issues and needs within the context of general practice.
- Incorporate the lived experience and needs of consumers, their carers and others in their network to inform provision of FPS.
- Discuss the use of practice systems and strategies to provide safe and holistic mental health care in the context of general practice.
- Discuss the engagement of regular supervision and other professional development to maintain and extend skills in the provision of FPS.
- Discuss appropriate MBS item numbers relating to the provision of mental health care within the context of general practice.
